Print media will always be a great way to communicate your organisation's message to your community. Many, if not most, Siteflex users willl have some involvement with print media. But what's the best way to make sure your same print media message is carried over to your online presence?
Given the time and drive, anything can be achieved. Often, however, all that's required is to redisplay your print media in the online environment; allowing your community to browse through without losing out on not having a physical copy in their hands.
Whether it be advertising flyer, property map, fashion catalog or product manual, often times getting your print media online may not be as simple as an upload and a "download file" link. You may want someone to have a detailed flip through, being able to zoom in and actually read the text or notice the fine details of an image.
That's where our Siteflex document viewer comes in, powered by Issuu, to make sure you and your community are not losing out with moving print media to the online space.
If you'd like to know more about how Issuu and Siteflex can make your print media document viewing experience a better one, contact us and let us know.
For advanced Siteflex Users, the related content codes are:
- issuu=documentId, width, height
- issuu=documentId, width, height, user name, label, background colour
Make your own rules with Smart Categories

Today we are introducing a new feature to Siteflex Contacts, Smart Categories.
What is a Smart Category?
A Smart Category is a rule-based Contact Category that dynamically matches Siteflex Contacts based on the rules that are set when the Category is built.
With plenty of options when setting up rules, you are able to filter for contacts associated with: category, detail field, product, etc. Just specify the conditions and Siteflex will automatically add matching Contacts to the Smart Category.
Perhaps you'd like to retrieve a group of Contacts who have purchased a certain Product? Contacts who have or have not received a Mailout? Contacts who have filled in a specific form on the website? There are plenty of targeting possibilities.

Where can a Smart Category be used?
A Smart Category can be used with our Siteflex Mail module, just like a normal Category, to target specific groups of Contacts for email marketing and mailouts. Smart Categories can be used for Personalisation (or Login-required areas / Intranet) purposes in a similar fashion, just the same as normal Contact Categories.
It's also worth considering that by chaining Smart Categories some sophisticated Contact targeting can be achieved. In all relevant areas of Siteflex, Smart Categories makes talking to the right people in your website's community even more flexible.
Smart Categories Rule List - Siteflex Contacts
Creating a Smart Category
A Smart Category is created from Contact Category screen similar to other Contact Categories. The parent for your new Smart Category should be set to Smart Category. Enter the required fields as normal, and then when your new Category is saved the rule list will appear on the screen which allows you to set up your Smart Category rule criteria.
Too easy? Don't hesitate to talk to us further about how Smart Categories can best help you get the most out of your Siteflex website.
Keep it fresh: Improving SEO with simple content management

While Siteflex offers a range of very powerful tools to help you improve your search engine optimisation (SEO), ongoing maintenance and fresh content is one of the most basic ways to effectively improve your website's ranking with search engines.
Content
When putting together some new content, it's good to remember that you're not only writing content for your demographic but also the search engines.
Keywords, specific words used to draw people to your site, are good to consider when writing content, but be careful not to get caught in the trap of trying to include as many keywords as possible. Always write your content for your user community first, and search engines second.
Links
Links to your website are just like doors to a room, the more there are the easier it is to get in.
Social media sites are a great way to create links into your website, sites like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter are some of the most commonly used social media platforms, but get creative and think of other ways that you can add doors to your website.
Images
Believe it or not but images contribute to SEO too. While search engines can't immediately interpret the image itself, you can explain the image to search engines through the image title, image file name, alternate text and the image link, so be as descriptive as possible where you can.
Going back to past content where these things may have been overlooked can be a good use of time, and also a good excuse to have another look at the surrounding content too.
Keep It Relevant
As always, though, the most important thing is to keep all content relevant, things that will help give the user a better experience. Try not to fall into the trap of writing content for search engines and only for search engines, or going crazy with social media, potentially approaching becoming spammy.
Consider how each change might be looked upon as being a positive or negative change to the user experience.
Keep It Fresh!Approach fresh content in a sensible way and you'll see rewards in visitor traffic, site usage, and hence search engine ranking.
If you would like more info on any of the SEO tools that Siteflex offers don't hesitate to contact us.

The Siteflex team has been excited recently with the launch of our first two Siteflex Facebook components, Facebook Like button and Facebook Comments. These new components allow your website community to comment on and "Like" your website's content, all via the Facebook social platform.
What does this mean for my website?GIving people the ability to comment and contribute to content helps create a stronger sense of community and allows people to interact with your website in a new, casual way. Not to mention they offer some great word-of-mouth ways of spreading your content to people who may be interested.
Of course Facebook is a hot topic at the moment, incorporating Facebook and commenting onto your website shows that your website is moving with the times. Not convinced? Read this article on growing your audience with Facebook Comments for Siteflex, by SEO and Social Media expert, Jeremy Cabral.
Great - let's get started! We encourage all Siteflex website owners to look at their website and web presence to consider these new components and where they might be best used on your site. Keep in mind that not every page on every website is suitable for Facebook integration, indeed some websites may benefit from some simple, inobtrusive Like buttons whereas Comments would simply not make sense.
Siteflex Page comments with Facebook - get the conversation startedOur new Facebook components are already being used on a couple of Siteflex websites, in particular on the Solutions Outsourced Fun Stuff page and all our Blog items. Drop the Solutions team a comment while you're there! Not to mention we've got the new Facebook Like buttons up and running on the Galleries section of Noni B.
As always, let us know if you are interested in having this feature enabled on your Siteflex website.
