Quietly in the shadows we've been working away on the biggest individual upgrade that Siteflex has seen: the new Siteflex Editor. The new Editor is intended to completely replace the current Siteflex Editor, used wherever HTML can be entered. Currently, it's shaping up quite nicely, but there's more to do...

Some of the main advantages of the new Siteflex Editor are:

    • Better, more consistent HTML output. No more "random paragraph syndrome".
    • Easier, faster to roll out new Editor functionality once established and in use.
    • User-friendly Siteflex Content Codes. No more complex % codes to deal with.
    • Base editor that the new Siteflex Editor is built upon receives strong community support.
    • Stronger strip Microsoft Word code functionality.
    • Better, streamlined interface. Utilizes "shadow box" style popups rather than creating new browser popup windows. Utilizes AJAX functionalty; loads only what you need.
    • Cleaner HTML output that is compatable with Siteflex's Static Page Caching.
    • Looks cooler, especially in Firefox!

As a part of the new Siteflex Editor upgrade we've been reviewing the positioning the Siteflex Editor element on the various administration screens within Siteflex. In the News module, for example, we have put greater focus on the News item's content by moving the Siteflex Editor above the secondary, less used elements (Category selector, Status and Online/Archive dates) and letting the Editor take up the entire available width. It's all about content, after all!

At the end of the day the rollout of the new Siteflex Editor means better websites that are even easier to update.

We're looking forward to getting the Editor to a finished state within the next few months and getting everyone using it!
